Yesterday Jade went to the vet for her senior panel. It was terrible. The new person popped her in the carrier but Jade fought her so that the lid came down with a bang, scratching her nose. In the car, I am told, Jade was finally quiet. The new person had covered the carrier with a cloth to calm her. I’m sure that she told Jade she was a good girl and would soon be home, as SHE is that type of person. But when the new person opened the top of the carrier to lift out Jade, Jade scratched her arm. Then she ran around the examining room like a little banshee. — so I heard the new person say into the telephone later. At one point when the tech entered the room, Jade leaped on the back of the straight backed chair and tried to scramble up the wall. Eventually she jumped onto the counter where she huddled until the new person crept up to her to stroke her. That calmed her somewhat but her little heart was really pumping and her tongue was hanging out. Poor Jade. Eventually they gave her a tiny bit of sedative. Soon she was out like a light. When she came to, she had repetitive behavior like a bear pacing in the zoo. But the vet said it was normal and would soon wear off. When the new person brought Jade home, she opened the top of the carrier so she could jump out, but Jade was too out of it to do so, so the new person eventually lifted her out, and then Jade shot into the basement. Jade did not come out till this morning, having eaten nothing for a day.
